Assessing drivers of intra-seasonal grassland dynamics in a Kenyan savannah using digital repeat photography

چکیده

Understanding grassland dynamics and their relationship to weather grazing is critical for pastoralists whose livelihoods depend on productivity. Studies investigating the impacts of climate human factors inter-seasonal have focused mostly changes vegetation structure. Yet, quantifying impact these specific communities not known. This study uses digital repeat photography examine how intra-seasonal different are affected by precipitation, temperature, in a heterogeneous semi-arid savannah Kenya. A low-cost camera network allowed fine-scale temporal spatial variability analysis intensity. Over all grass communities, our results show precipitation driving mainly early-season some cases mid-season flushing, temperature end-of-season senescence, influencing declines. quantifies three drivers do uniformly species communities. Specifically, Cynodon Cynodon/Bothriochloa rapidly positively associated with where declines late-season increases. Setaria other hand, weaker associations drivers, limited positive grazing. Kunthii/Digitaria diverse had no association drivers. Highly mixed were increased as well lower intensity Our research sheds light complex interactions between plants, animals, weather. Furthermore, this also demonstrates potential repeated inform about patterns grazing, goal assisting formulations management practises that better capture intra-annual highly dryland systems.

Tracking forest phenology and seasonal physiology using digital repeat photography: a critical assessment.

Digital repeat photography is becoming widely used for near-surface remote sensing of vegetation. Canopy greenness, which has been used extensively for phenological applications, can be readily quantified from camera images. Important questions remain, however, as to whether the observed changes in canopy greenness are directly related to changes in leaf-level traits, changes in canopy structur...

Innovative Use of Opsite Flexigrid™ for Digital Photography in Rhinoplasty

Standardization of photography in plastic surgery is fundamental for pre-operative surgical planning, comparative post-operative assessment, and demonstration of surgical results.1 In rhinoplasty, slight changes in patient or camera position can lessen nasal hump, vary nose size, and alter skin tension.2 In order to prevent these common errors, photographic standardization with high-quality equ...

Assessing vegetation structure and ANPP dynamics in a grassland–shrubland Chihuahuan ecotone using NDVI–rainfall relationships

Climate change and the widespread alteration of natural habitats are major drivers of vegetation change in drylands. In the Chihuahuan Desert, large areas of grasslands dominated by perennial grass species have transitioned over the last 150 years to shrublands dominated by woody species, accompanied by accelerated water and wind erosion. Multiple mechanisms drive the shrub-encroachment process...

Assessing aesthetic composite veneer placement via digital photography.

Restoring teeth using direct composite veneers can be quite challenging for a clinician. Achieving natural color blending, masking dark teeth, removing decay, and providing a natural finish require meticulous placement with various composite opacities and shades. Critical self-evaluation using digital photography, documentation, and follow-up visits to perform veneer enhancements are critical t...
